14 Jul A Week with Tesla Powerwall 2 – Results are in
With just over a week since we installed one of the first Tesla Powerwall 2’s on the Gold Coast and the results are in – Powerwall 2 has exceeded our initial forecasts. The first few days post install, our Mermaid Waters customers solar PV and Powerwall 2 provided 98-99% of his energy usage with only a 1% reliance on the grid. We had initially forecast for a 5-10% reliance on the grid so these results were extremely promising. With a few days of mixed weather and family holidaying at the residence, the reliance on the grid did increase slightly and the customer was able to see this change via the Tesla App.
Via the Tesla App, the customer has real time streaming on the performance of the battery. Michael the lead installer for this project said “Being one of the first Powerwall 2’s to be installed on the Gold Coast we’ve been motioning this battery regularly with interest so we have a deeper understanding of its capabilities”.
The customer is able to adjust the energy reserve of the battery via the “customise” option in the App to suit his energy trends.
The Power Flow function provides a visual representation of how much energy is firstly generated by the solar panels, where that energy flows to in the home and lastly how much is sent to and from the Powerwall. This function will also show the power exported or imported from the grid.
